(1) The product of x and a positive integer, z, is not equal to x.

(2) y is neither positive nor negative.

IMO C

from statement 1
x*z= not x i.e., x is not 0 and z is not 1
if x=0 x*z= 0
if z=1 x*z= x
value of y is not known hence insufficient.

from statement 2
y is neither positive nor negative. i.e., y=0
value of x is not known hence insufficient

Combining
x is not equal to 0 (x can be positive or negative) and y=0
x + y = xy does not hold true.
Sufficient to answer with NO

Hence C

@banuel can you give explanation on this problem please?

1.) if the product X and positive integer Z is not equal to X. Then X is not equal to 0. Then wouldn't this be sufficient?

X could be 2 and Y could be 2 as well. In that case 2+2=2*2
If X is 1 Y is 2 then answer is no.
