Hello

I am from India and I got into a decent MBA program for fall 13 class.

What is the seriousness of the financial crisis , fiscal cuts, sequestration, etc that are happening in the US right now?
Do you think these cuts have any direct/indirect impact on the scholarships , job opportunities, business environments in the US ?
Are they serious enough for me to consider an MBA in another country/ year ?
What do you think will be the effect of these cuts on the living expense, safety, etc ?

If someone in the US can explain, I would be grateful.

This is a hard one to answer...

Signs are pointing to the US starting to get out of the recession, which is good. As it is, the largest effect of the recession is the inability to get a job. Since you are probably coming here under a student visa, it probably won't have too much of a barring on you. Safety, living expenses, etc have been pretty much holding steady, so you wouldn't notice a difference there.

Where it will probably effect you is what financial aid you were looking to get. If I recall correctly, the sequester did cut some of the funding available to foreign students, but you'd have to double check on that.

No matter what, welcome to the US!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Almost all signs are pointing to the US economy strengthening lately. Now, if this were 3-5 years ago, you'd obviously have something to worry about.
