Equation which is formed is (4b+5j)^*n=253
where b & j are in cents.
Let b*n=B and j*n=J,
Then 4B+5J=253
Now, 5 would always have unit digit of 5. So, to have 3 in the unit digit in the RHS. B should have unit digit of two. Because 4*2+5=13.
So, by hit and trial, put a=2,12, 22, 32 until you get the value in the options.
For, B=22, J=253-4*22=165 cents
Hence, answer is 1.65 dollars.
