Hello,

Yesterday I was notified that I was accepted into Two-Year Full-Time MBA program at Emory's Goizueta school of business off the waitlist. Additionally I am also accepted to Wash U Olin with a scholarship that is a little less than one full year of tuition. I am planning on studying marketing, and will be looking for a job in Brand management.

Additionally, I am from New York, and I will be looking to return to the Northeast following my MBA. It seems that both schools are pretty regional, but do you think that it will be easier to get back to the Northeast from Goizueta over Olin?

Academically, both schools seem very similar.

Please let me know your thoughts on whether I should pass up my scholarship at Olin, and attend Goizueta with no scholarship money.

Sincerely,

Robert

Hi Robert,

First of all congratulations on your offers! Both programs are reputable and it must be great to know you'll be at one of those respected programs in the coming year. Both are similarly ranked, with Goizueta slightly higher but only a few ranks in most rankings. Have you visited either schools, or at least gotten in touch with current students/alum to get a feel for what each program is like?

Have you looked at the employment statistics/hiring profiles? Of course you can get a good marketing education at any good business school, but it looks like at Olin Marketing is the most commonly cited function in terms of post-MBA hires.
Olin: http://olincareers.wustl.edu/SiteCollec ... entMBA.pdf
Goizueta: http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/f90 ... f900d1f9/4

Finally, if you have target post-MBA jobs or companies in mind, you can always see about getting an informational interview, attending an HR session or just getting in touch with hiring managers and asking their opinion on the two programs in terms of hiring an MBA grad.

Wishing you the best on the decision and the upcoming year!
