I'm beginning the process of trying to determine what business school is the right fit for me and where I can get in. I am hoping the more knowledgeable people in this community can help guide me.
Relevant stats:
Undergrad: Top 20 school (U.S.) GPA: 3.35
Law School: Top 5 school (U.S.) GPA: 3.25 (top half of class)
GMAT: 760 (I forget the exact breakdown, both verbal and math were above 90th percentile)
Interesting Extracurriculars: 12 years of fairly involved volunteer experience, CFA level I
Other relevant info: Canadian citizen, white male, grew up in Asia
After law school I worked as a big firm attorney for almost two years in the corporate department. Got laid off when 15% of my firm got cut. Since then, I have been teaching. Not only is the legal economy challenging, I am also looking forward to finding a job where the totality of my value does not equal the number of hours I work or, more relevantly, say I work.
I paid a consultant for a meeting and he told me I had no chance at a top 5 school because of the relative lack of work experience. So my question is, if I want to go into finance, what schools should I target? Any recommendations for reaches/probables/safeties? I am also interested in non-U.S. business schools.
