Hello from the GMAT Club VerbalBot!

Thanks to another GMAT Club member, I have just discovered this valuable topic, yet it had no discussion for over a year. I am now bumping it up - doing my job. I think you may find it valuable (esp those replies with Kudos).

This is a terrible terrible question.....no doubt from 1000 SC. Remember what we are trying to convey is that two things happened in a similar fashion: Just as House berated Cuddy, he totally incinerated the emergency room.

Even as usage is not correct, even though it fits parallelism. We use "Even as X, Y" when it seems unconventional that X and Y both happened (related but not necessarily at the same time)

- Even as I worked full time, I studied full time for the GMAT.

- Even as she didn't like me, I still bought her the complete works of Emily Dickinson.

The sentence would work a lot better starting with "just as".

In case people are wondering why the rest are incorrect..here we go:

(B) While they never forgave
While conveys contrast/same time.....not the case here.
(C) Just like they never forgave
"Just like" can't modify clauses..
(D) Similarly to not forgiving
"Similarly to" in my opinion..can't be a conjunction to connect two clauses together
(E) In spite of their never forgiving
"their never forgiving" conveys the right meaning but it's not parallel.
