In E, does "when young" refer to drop of poison?
what should be the antecedent for "it" in the non-underlined part?

it refers to a drop of poison. check the meaning - it accumulates over the year in......

"it" seems to be referring to "The termite" rather than the intended antecedent "poison"

Even though when the termite Neocapitermes taracua is young, it will store only a drop of poison, it accumulates over the years in the abdominal sacks, creating a 'suicide backpack' that can explode and either kill or paralyze enemies of the colony.

Since, the non-underlined 'it' refers back to the poison and not the termite. The right answer choice will do that comfortably.

A) Even though when the termite Neocapitermes taracua is young, it will store only a drop of poison, Incorrect, since the subject of the dependent clause refers to the termite, therefore, the subject of independent clause 'it' refers back to the subject of dependent clause.

B) Only a drop of poison is stored by the termite Neocapitermes taracua, when young Incorrect Run on

C) Even though, when young, the termite Neocapitermes taracua will store only a drop of poison, Incorrect, since the subject of the dependent clause refers to the termite, therefore, the subject of independent clause 'it' refers back to the subject of dependent clause.

D) Even though only a drop of poison is stored by the young Neocapitermes taracua termite, Correct, because the 'it' refers to the poison here.

E) The termite Neocapitermes taracua stores only a drop of poison when young, Incorrect, since the subject of the dependent clause refers to the termite, therefore, the subject of independent clause 'it' refers back to the subject of dependent clause.
