The OA is D
I was confused between C and D and chose C for similar reasons as outlined by TeHCM
This is from Kaplan 800.
The OE to choose D over C is, "the meaning of C is less clear than that of D because of the confusing word order of C. Therefore, D wins."
I am not convinced of the OA and OE.
Any explanations?

Seems Kaplan needs to participate in this forum before writing a gmat book. we should teach these people that D is confusing not C.

I picked C, can anyone explain me why D is better? I don't think it is as the Professor said.

In D, the phrase "Except for one history class and one one biology class" is followed/modified by "the student", which cannot. if "Except for one history class and one one biology class" were modified by related nown such "all classes orrequirements", it would be ok.
again OA according to kaplan could be D, imo its not correct.

I also picked C...

But looking closely, D looks more parallel - "one history class and one one biology class"

A) The sentence implies that all students need to take one history class and one biology class.
B) Needing to take……. Wrong
E) Wrong Construction
D fixes the misplaces modifier problem.

E - aside is incorrect
B - awkward - except for needing
A - passive
C - think it as not parallel. class in history and oneclass in biology
Thus D

It's between C and D.

I would go with D.
I don't think D is confusing rather more clear than C.
In C , I can see 'one class in history' is not || with 'one in biology'

choice C SHOULD BE THE answer, modifier "except for one class in history and one in biology" is modifying the "requirements" or "student"?

i strongly believe it should be the requirements, student completed all the requirements except one, makes more sense to me

choice c - modifier is close to the requirements

The student has fulfilled all of his graduation requirements except for one class in history and one in biology.

OA D is ok it seems

"History class" is better than " one class in history "
C is wordier.

also modifier " Except for one history class and one one biology class " seems ok in D.
