Speed = 48 kmph (excluding stoppages)

Speed = 40 kmph (including stoppages)

i.e. If the train had not stopped at stoppages then it would travel 8 more km

the time that train at usual speed takes to travel 48 km = 60 mins
i.e Time that train takes to travel 8 km \(= \frac{60}{48}*8 = 10 mins\)

i.e. Train stops for 10 mins every hour



Answer: Option B

Without stoppage he travels 48 km in 60 minutes. Therefore he travels 1 km every 60/48 = 5/4 minutes

With stoppage he travels 40 km in 1 hour.

To travel 40 km, he requires 40 * (5/4) = 50 minutes

Therefore his stoppage time is 60 - 50 = 10 minutes
