I will go with C. In A the usage of 'the' makes me uncomfortable. I am sorry I cannot explain more.

A.

I dont see "despite" and "although" make any differrnece in these sentences. C and D are same with despite and although tags.If C has to be correct D has to correct. So eliminated both.

B has "of the" at the end, when read in the complete sentence,did not make sense.

Between A and E , A sounded better.I am fine with "the" in A. as it actually refers to Turks not "more than".
