Can anyone please tell me a sure short way to remember the difference between factor and a multiple. I know its too basic but everytime i am doing any problem I just get confused.

It ould be very helpful if there us some trick or a way to memorise it.

When nothing seem to help, I would go and look at a Stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred time without as much as a crack showing in it.
Yet at the hundred and first blow it would split in two.
And I knew it was not that blow that did it, But all that had gone Before

Multiples are what we get after multiplying by an integer
3*1 = 3 [1 is a multiple of 3, 3 is a multiple of 3 itself

Factor are what we multiply to get number
2*3 = 6 [ 2 and 3 are factors of 6]

Factors = fewer (there are a finite number of factors). Multiples = many (infinite number of multiples)
