Congratulations! So there's a solid U.S. program with some panache in Italy. From what limited knowledge I have, Purdue is a great school for quant, for example, it's known in the U.S. as being a great school for engineers and the like. Are you going to accept?

Thank you. I will thoroughly evaluate the offer (financial aid, etc.) when I will receive the letter. However, if other top schools don't accept me, I think I will accept UT's offer.

Best wishes for your career plans!

I have to say that you could scarcely go wrong with UT; it's such a great program. I'm sure it would take very little convincing for Italian academics to understand that the program's on par with virtually any in the U.S.

Well its been a rough week. Three more dings. So far I've been denied from

Penn
Yale
Cornell
Duke
Chicago
Carnegie Mellon

Still waiting to hear from

NYU
Michigan
Ohio State
Penn State
Maryland

I've been accepted so far to two schools, both of which I was pretty sure I would get into. I won't be unhappy going to either of those programs, but I'd be thrilled if I got into NYU or Michigan. So far with my track record I'm not holding my breath.

I know this has been talked about already, but admissions are brutal. Especially for finance. I figured with a background in statistics, a few years of highly quantitative work experience, a strong undergrad university, 770 on the GMAT and good academic references that I'd get into at least one top tier school.

The reality is that the only way to be secure in admissions is a 3.7+ GPA, hold a masters degree, Attended Ivy League or Ivy League like universities, and 750+ on the GMAT. It's crazy but it seems to me like getting into the top universities is brutal beyond imagination.

Sorry for the long rant, but hopefully other people will know what they are up against. Good luck to everyone, and hopefully I'll get some to over the rest of the admissions season.

Ding from Cornell (marketing) via email today 3-9. It was a longshot anyway. Still waiting on four others; Oregon, Colorado, UNC, and Wisconsin-Madison.

I think I might update my resume, just in case.

Congrats! I recently interviewed for the doctoral program in management at Syracuse as well. They told me I would hear next week.

Are you interested in OB, OT, or Strategy? Thanks.

HI aspiringphd....

My interest is in OB and strategy. What was your interest in? Can you share what you know about the Syracuse' phd program?

I wish you the best for next week -- I know the wait is tremendous..If I remember right from postings, you've applied to a few schools-- How's that going for you? This phd application world is a whole new world for me!

Herb - if you can let me know the program and dates, I can update the list. Congrats on your offers! We are interested to know where you are accepted.

Cheers,

As the list gets longer, it gets tougher to update it. Please let me know if I have missed any entry. Anyway, many congrats to those who have been recently offered a place.... More good news!

Yes, I have received my first (unofficial) admit from CMU. I will update the list once I get the confirmed admit letter.

Sorry that I couldn't share with you folks in gmatclub as soon as I like. I was and still am quite sick over the last few days. It kind of took away the excitement - must be the effect of the medication. Nevertheless, it is an admit that I'm truely thankful for.
