OA is D. Can someone help explaining why E is incorrect?

In E "he" cant refer to Guy de Maupassant.

We need a possessive pronoun to refer to Guy de Maupassant's

After conquering the beast, I dont think you need an answer to any GMAT question, do you anita?

I agree with trivikram that "he" in E has no referent.
Even if you change it to "the author", you still will not get the intended meaning.

OA is D. Can someone help explaining why E is incorrect?

E - he is ambiguous. Also it changes the meaning, stories are not classics because of the tragic twist but because of his skill in using Irony.

C - 'Famed' modifies 'many of Guy de Maupassant's short stories ' - incorrect; whereas it should be 'the author'

B - 'because of how' - 2 conjunctions back to back - not good

A - Same as 'C' and usage of progressive verb 'revealing' is not parallel

D for sure.
Everything else uses "he" to refer to "Guy de Maupassant's". This is not allowed in gmat.

Modifier error in A & C; eliminate.

'He' cannot refer to 'Guy de Maupassant's short stories' in B & E. 'He' can only refer to 'Guy de Maupassant', which is not mentioned in either B or E.

C is awkward

D is the best

D changes the meaning. But there is no other option left.

Thought so, but it is the only grammatically correct answer choice regardless.

A-- due to can be replaced by Caused by. So it should follow a noun clause. here the sentence is due to the author slowly revealing ... which is wrong
B-- same thing. we are expecting a noun clause after Because of.
C-- same a B
E-- the sentence first uses the possessive form of the noun and then uses he as pronoun which is wrong

D uses the noun clause author's famed and masterful use of irony after because of. And also continues to use the the possessive form.
after the possessive

A and C have misplaced modifiers so you can cross those out. B and E contain pronoun errors. A possessive word (i.e. Guy de Maupassant's) cannot, as a rule of thumb, be the antecedent of a pronoun. D is the only grammatically correct choice.

What is wrong with C? to me D seems wordy.

Hi,

Doesn't this sentence say that Guy de Maupassant was famous for his masterful use of irony in stories and these short stories have become classics due to the author slowly revealing at the end of each piece a tragic twist of fate.
