Hello,

I have just begun the GMAT journey and wanted to ask people if they can recall what score they obtained on their first practice CAT. The important part is to gauge peoples score before they did any study. i.e first score vs official score.

I have done hardly any study (maybe 10 hours) and I plan to take a the princeton review practice CAT to see where I stand.

Was just curious to see what all you seasoned pros got on the first practice test?

Apologise in advance if this has already been posted.

There is no co-relation between first score and official score.
I have seen people scoring 500 on the first test and scoring 700+ on real thing. I have also seen people scoring 650 on first test and scoring less than 650 in real thing.

Use the diagnostic only to identify your weakness and strength.

11 years after my last exams - with 0 prep - my first GMATPrep got me 620. I haven't yet taken GMAT yet. Hopefully I'll get more than that in the real one :)

I score 600 on first try without any study
after practicing, I end up with 540 on official test :(
So there is not much correlation between first score
and official score which you will get after paying 250$

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Was a little worried about my first score. but I didn't realise how many questions I had vs how much time I had (little prep as I said above) so ran out of time for the last 10 questions on the maths section.....had to basically guess.

Don't want to make excuses but it was also very late at night and I lost concentration towards the end......but I guess it is good to practice in all sorts of conditions!!!

By the way although I am embarrassed and intimidated to put this up my score was 480. I am aiming for 700+!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do people reckon this is possible?

I scored basically the same on all three GMATPrep tests I took and the real exam. Preparation did not improve my score.
