Well, I now have about a half-dozen gray hairs, so perhaps 16.


Pulled out my first two grey hairs yesterday. Must be related to all the pre-matriculation stress. Yuck!

Just checked with United Customer Service: 30K mileage points for a one way b-class upgrade to/from KIX (Osaka) to/from SeaTac (Seattle). I've got ~52K and she has ~41K accumulated so we thought we had it in the bag.

NOT. For starters, all upgradable tickets must be "M, H, Y, or B" class. Next, biz-class seats need to be available. We screwed up and unknowingly reserved "S" class tickets because that's what our local travel agent was pitching as the best deal.

It's a long shot at best, but I'm going to try asking the agent to change the ticket class last minute, provided the fare differential is less than $200. Anybody ever successfully done that before?

At 6'5 and 245 pounds, I'd got at least 3-400. Unfortunately, I never see it that cheap.

It's $500 w/United at check-in, provided the seat is available.
