I dont even know how to tackle this? comes under what section? I thought this was a tense issue.. Is that right?

"for all X....Y...." is an idiom that illustrates an ironic contradiction. In other words, Auden was a hypocrite.

A it is..
Whenever u get confused and dont know where to start , use the POE..LEts c how POE looks for this sentence..

For all his professed disdain of such activities, Auden was an inveterate literary gossip.

(B) Having always professed disdain for such activities
There is no need of using Having here...
(C) All such activities were, he professed, disdained, and
Clearly wrong..he(pronoun error), and(unnecessarily bringing in a clause)
(D) Professing that all such activities were disdained
Professing is a wrong word here...
((E) In spite of professions of disdaining all such activities
professions of disdaining....Was this a profession for Auden/.Clearly wrong

Leaves us with only A..
