Since $$x&y = \frac{x-y}{x-1}$$, similarly we can write
$$(-3)&q$$=$$\frac{-3-q}{-3-1}$$=$$\frac{-3-q}{-4}$$
Given, $$(-3)&q=2$$
Or, $$\frac{-3-q}{-4}=2$$
Cross-multiplying, we have
-3-q=-8
Or, q=-3+8=5

Ans. (D)
