For which of the following functions f(x), is it always true that f(a/b) = f(b/a)?

A. f(x) = 1/x
B. f(x) = x^2
C. f(x) =1/(x/2)
D. f(x) = x+1
E. None of the above

Checking options

A. f(x) = 1/x ----> f(a/b) = 1/(a/b)=(b/a) Also f(b/a) = 1/(b/a)=(a/b) BUT f(a/b) is NOT equal to f(b/a)
B. f(x) = x^2 ----> f(a/b) = (a/b)^2 Also f(b/a) = (b/a)^2 BUT f(a/b) is NOT equal to f(b/a)
C. f(x) =1/(x/2) ----> f(a/b) = 1/(a/b)/2=(2b/a) Also f(b/a) = 1/(b/a)/2=(2a/b) BUT f(a/b) is NOT equal to f(b/a)
D. f(x) = x+1 ----> f(a/b) = 1+(a/b)=(b+a)/b Also f(b/a) = 1+(b/a)=(a+b)/a BUT f(a/b) is NOT equal to f(b/a)
E None of the above

Answer: Option E

Consider a/b = 2 and b/a = 0.5

A) f(2)=1/2

f(0.5)=2

NO

B) f(2) = 2^2 = 4

f(0.5)= 0.5^2 = 0.25

NO

C) f(2)= 1/(2/2) =1

f(0.5) = 1/(0.5/2) = 4

NO

D) f(2)=2+1=3

f(0.5) = 0.5+1=1.5

NO

Answer is E
