From Johnson's gross pay of p dollars last week, t percent was deducted for taxes and then s dollars was deducted for savings. What amount of Leland's gross pay last week remained after these two deductions?

(1) p - s = 244
(2) pt = 7,552

I choose C

We need to find -> p – pt/100 –s

A) Insuff. makes it 244 – pt/100
B) Insuff. Makes it (p-s) – 7552/100

Together, 244 – 75.52 = 168.48

I am quite confused by this qn. If the qn was abt Johnson, ans is cool C. But the qn here asks abt Leland???

Shud it be E then?

I agree.

If this is just a typo, then my answer is C.

Confirmed it is a typo... the question is about Johnson.

E, clearly E. In the case Johnson and Lenad are the same person, then C is the correct answer. As nothing is stated, I would choose E.

C.

I didn't catch the typo about Leland. Wouldn't have got E (which is correct as the question is worded with Johnson and Leland)

Q for u all - would the GMAT lay such a trap? Would they do a Johnson question with Leland appearing from nowhere. This seems to be a completely trick-based question instead of a question that requires some tricky thinking.
