From July 1, 1980 to July 1, 1990, the closing price of a share of stock X doubled.
that means if on July 1 1980, the value is 10, On July 1 1990 the value will be 20.

S1 says value increased by \$2. 2x = x+2;
x=2; implies value on July 1 1980 is 4. Sufficient.

S2 provides no info on value in 1980 or 1990

I am so careless. I thought we need the initial price for the stock
but actually we already can form a formula from statement 1,
2x=x+2
x=2
so the final price is 4

1990 - 2x

A) 2x-x=2
