Hi,

I scored a 710 in GMAT. But on my second attemot i scored a 640.
Should i provide any reasons in the application for my low score?
Or is it ok to leave it alone?

Thanks

can you actually provide very concrete reasons as to what went wrong?
If you can then sure!
btw, what was the gap between the two tests?

Hi,

The gap between the tests is 5 months.(can you tell me how the time might matter in the eyes of the adcoms? ).

The reason behind this is the condition at my workplace. My entire team was dissolved and we had to look for new opportunities. I found a new job a week before the day i would have been deported from the country. the challenges at the new job too, have spoiled my preparations.

Do you think this looks more like an excuse? This was my lowest score in the 10 practice exams(Knewton +GMATPrep) i took. I dont know if it was just a bad day or if this stress has affected my timing on the exam. i am open to your opinions.

Thanks.

Well I think you have a good story behind it and it might just work for you
Also, do you have any other options?

what do you mean by other options?
Normally, is 5 months a big gap after you score good?

No I mean can you retake or do something else to offset it?
You might highlight the issue in your optional essay. I would if I were you. Its a pretty good story you have got there that people would love to read.
