Sediments is plural so it should have a plural verb. It must be form. This leaves option C and D.

D places structures as close as possible to such as.

D is the correct answer

D it is. That clearly refers to particles which form structures.

structures form, not forms

D is better than C. Would you rather say "I see a beautiful girl" or "I see a girl who is beautiful"?

such as at the back made me eliminate A,B, and C because we need to exemplify structure.

between D and E, I eliminated E because a comma is needed before 'which'.
And I think fabric cannot be the modified noun.
