George: Private companies should always abide by government policies, especially when those policies are in their own interests. I wholeheartedly support the 1% Donation Program that mandates private companies to donate 0.5% of their revenues for social cause. Such donations shall attract immense goodwill, duly benefiting the companies.

Pablo: The decision of what is beneficial for one should be left to one alone. Certainly, companies should be allowed the freedom to choose to volunteer for the 1% Donation Program.

Pablo’s method of responding to George’s argument is by

A- drawing a distinction

B- highlighting a subjectivity

C- establishing an analogy

D- deriving a contradiction

E- giving an alternate definition

George says that Private company should follow Govt policies esp when they are suppose to help them indirectly

Pablo says but what is gonna help or hurt the company should be left alone to the company because they are better judge of that

only Option B fits the bill because Pablo is saying everything is subjective because everything is not black or white

zac123 hope this helps
still if confusion persists kindly let us know between which options you are confused

He might be contradicting, but certainly he did not derive it.

Pablo’s method of responding to George’s argument is by

(A) drawing a distinction - a distinction is drawn when you highlight a key feature of a particular item that belongs to a homogeneous sample. here, pablo does not highlight any such unique feature of a particular item that's described in George's statement. Hence, eliminate (A)

(B) highlighting a subjectivity - Pablo does introduce the idea that George's statement would only be considered valid if the companies themselves get to decide whether they should volunteer in the government donation program. Hence, (B) is the correct answer choice.

(C) establishing an analogy - Pablo does not draw a parallel comparison (analogy). He cites a condition that he considers valid. Hence, eliminate (C).

(D) deriving a contradiction - Pablo does not contradict what George says. He cites a condition that he considers valid. Hence, eliminate (D).

(E) giving an alternate definition - Pablo does not provide an alternate definition. He cites a condition that he considers valid. Hence, eliminate (E).
