E...

George's issue is that students are wasting time on economics because everything is wrong in it. To refute George's issue, we need to find proof that
students are not wasting time on it.

"Interviews five years after graduation show that economics majors are just as likely to say that their college experience was enjoyable
as are those who did not major in economics."

E fits the answer.

[quote="gmacvik"]George: The economics taught in college is very confusing—and that’s because it’s all wrong.
Harold: If it’s all wrong, why is college economics still force-fed to students?
George: It’s very difficult to learn something that’s all wrong, and if, by chance, someone does waste all that time and learn it, he or she will be inclined to defend it ferociously and pass it on to others.

Which one of the following, if true, would most directly challenge George’s reasoning?

(A) Many college graduates who have taken economics go on to successful careers in a variety of other fields.
(B) College students who major in economics tend to earn higher grades in economics than in their other subjects.

C is too broad because it speaks about “relative terms in the field of economicsâ€

It cannot be D since this supports George. This is a C since the argument is about the natrue of Right and Wrong.

he REASONS that the lack of change is due to the fact that it is "wrong". Therefore although C does not challenge his CLAIM, it does challenge the REASONING he uses.

George says: College economics is confusing because it's all wrong. The reason they still teach it is that these guys studied too hard to learn these wrong stuff, so they want to defend it and pass it to others.

Quote:

Irrelevant. Their successfulness may have nothing to do with whether their have learned anything wrong in college.
Quote:
(B) College students who major in economics tend to earn higher grades in economics than in their other subjects.

Maybe it's because economics is easy. Or maybe they have studied it very hard. Not threatening to George's line of reasoning.
