I just got back home from the GMAT test center. I scored a 700 (Q49 - 85th% and V36- 79% percentile) and I am a little disappointed. My target was a 720 but I guess I will have to settle with a 700. I have been regularly following the posts on GMAT club and wanted to convey a big thank you for everything. I prepared for about 6-7 weeks for this beast.
Suggestions for Future Test-takers:Please stay as calm and composed as possible. I was a bit nervous/anxious during the exam and this lowered my score by atleast 20-30 points. As mentioned by several others, the closest thing to GMAT is the
OG and GMAT Prep. I spent the last 10 days or so practicing questions from OG12 and OG10. I think this helped me a lot. My weakest area was SC in Verbal. I went through the Manhattan SC guide once but did not gain as much as I should have. I then bought the Aristotle SC guide. I think it was a lot easier to follow than the Manhattan SC guide and also helped in boosting my confidence. In the last 5 days, I did about 50 SC questions per day from the OG10. The questions were similar to the SC questions on the GMAT. Make sure that you thoroughly understand the concepts explained in the
OG.
I never had any trouble with Quant in any of the practice exams. I consistently scored around 49 (
MGMAT)-50 GMAT Prep) on pretty much all my practice exams. My score of 49 was a bit disappointing but I guess there is not much I can do about it now.
Prep Material Used: OG12, OG10, Verbal Review 2nd edition, Aristotle SC Guide, Manhattan SC Guide,
MGMAT Tests, Kaplan (not too useful)
