Hi,

I think this question is way too easy to be classified as a 700-level question.

u can solve these kind of questions always by making factors...

the first part sum up to 125.
now u can write 125 as 5 X 5 X 5 .. this will give you 5 X sqrt(5)

similarly 20 can be factored into 2 X 2 X 5.. this will give you 2 X sqrt(5)

\sqrt{125}=\sqrt{36+64+25=[square_root]125}[/square_root]
=5\sqrt{5}+\sqrt{4*5}=5+2\sqrt{5}
=7\sqrt{5}

$$\sqrt{36+64+5^2} + \sqrt{20} = ?$$

A. $$19 + \sqrt{20}$$
B. $$19\sqrt{20}$$
C. $$\sqrt{145}$$
D. $$5\sqrt{100}+\sqrt{20}$$
E. $$7\sqrt{5}$$[/quote]

36 + 64 + 25 = 125

square root(125) + square root(20).
125 = 5 * 25 ie 5 square root(5).

20 = 2 square root(5)

ie 5 square root(5) + 2 square root(5) = 7 square root(5).
