Dear all,
Dear fellow sufferers of the GMAT test,
Recently I have taken the test. The room was super small, air conditioning was not operating, there were no windows whatsoever, the temperature in the room got above 30 degrees. It is the worst experience ever, when you have to sit for 4 hours covered with sweat and experiencing a terrible headache because of lack of oxygen. It is humiliating.
Even more so it is when Pearson denies the objective facts about the conditions in the room. I have sent already several emails to them with no apparent result and do not even see any attempt on their side to properly investigate the case.
I agree that the test should be difficult. I understand that you need to prepare for the test as hard as you can. But i do not understand why I am paying 250 dollars, amount for which in some countries, including mine, you can live months, for sitting in a tiny and stuffy room with no access to water. This I just can't understand.
With this statement I would like to start a public initiative, the objective of which will be to make Pearson properly invest and maintain its facilities so that all test takers have conditions optimal to their performance and equal across the globe.
I am sure that many of you here have suffered something very similar on your own. I read couple of threads on gmatclub, where people were discriminated because of adverse conditions during the test, I am sure, similar to rape cases, too many of us do not even file an official complain.
I want all of us to join a single effort and show Pearson that test-takers deserve respect and fair treatment wherever they are. It is not about you and me, the reimbursement for the test is not my objective. I am officially denying my right for it here and now. I want them to improve the conditions for those to come.
Very soon I will start a web-site where people will be able to file a complain and share their frustration. I will also start an online marketing campaign to increase awareness of the source. I am sure after we get thousands of real cases, they will have to listen, they will have to maintain their facilities properly, they will have to investigate each case and each sufferer will find justice.
Meanwhile, before the campaign is online, I would like to ask you to put a "+" in comment, if you think it is necessary to show Pearson that we deserve respect. This way I will keep you posted about our progress and next steps. Please write a PM if you are ready and willing to help - and we will figure it out.
Only together we can make them do at least something.
PS I know that I have just one comment on gmatclub. I've never intended to become an official member until today, when I got sick with their ignorance and injustice. I am a real person, working as a management consultant in Ukraine and I am super serious about proving Pearson's monopoly that they have to treat us the way we deserve.
