Hi,

I have my GMAT in 3 weeks.
I have been taking Manhattan test series.

I am not able to score more than 610 in the tests. (power prep = 650).

On closer examination of my tests, I observed a strange pattern...
My quant and verbal section usually have a good accuracy (80-90%) in first half of the section. 2-3 verbal questions wrong in first 22 and 3-4 quant questions wrong in first 22. The timing is also good in the first half. I am able to complete 17-18 verbal and 13-14 quant in 45 mins each with a very good accuracy. However, in the last half of the section, accuracy drops down to mere 30% and I will have to guess atleast 5-6 questions (both on quant and verbal) because of time shortage.

The pattern is consistent in the last 4 tests (3 Manhattan and 1 power prep).

I have been trying to sort this out but no luck no luck...

Its strange that I am able to solve most of the questions in less than 1 minute after the test. But, on test these questions took 3-4 mins and turned out to be wrong.

Experts please advice. I dont have even 20 days left for the exam........

Well this timing is not good at all if you ask me. 18 Verbal questions should ideally take you no more than 35 minutes and 14 Quant questions should take around 28 minutes. It is because you are taking too much time on the first half of the test that you are struggling to complete the test which could be a reason for your low scores.

Also it is not exactly unusual to perform well wile practicing from a book but poorly on the actual test, because of test pressure mainly. Doing a lot of tests will definitely help improve this.
