GMAT Prep Strategy Advice [#permalink]
Hey Rich. I know it's Labour Day today in the US and your reply might be a bit late but I dont mind that. Wanted to let you know I gave my first Official GMATPrep mock today and scored a 660. (Q-42 V-39). So looks like I'm doing pretty well in Verbal and have improved but not sufficiently improved in Quant. I HAVE TO cross atleast 720 for my schools. And while giving the exam I realized my Quant was not going as well as my Verbal. Since these official GMATPrep mocks are the most accurate predictors of my final score and I still have 17 days left, do you think I'll be able to pull that Quant score upto 46/47 ? Please advice me on this as to how i cn go about it. I'll solve as many sums as possible and see if that helps. But i'm eagerly awaiting your reply. Thank you so muc

Hi sameerkamath21,

While the Official GMAC CATs are arguably the most realistic ones available, your prior 3 CAT scores were all in the 550 - 600 range (and all taken recently). This most recent CAT score is an 'outlier' (relative to all of the others) and It's unrealistic to assume that you actually improved 60+ points in just 3 days (by extension, we cannot assume that you are actually at the "660 ability level" just yet). IF you "must" score 720+, then I would still suggest that you push back your Test Date. The work that you've done recently suggests that you're going to try to 'cram' during these last 2.5 weeks (which will increase your chances of 'burning out' before Test Day - and you will end up 'wasting' a lot of practice CATs that you would likely need later). That type of approach rarely leads to great results.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
