Hello all,
I have taken my first GMAT attempt on 28th July 2012 and got a score of 620 (Q49 V25). Now I am planning to take it again in two months; probably in October 2012 since I am planning for Fall 2013 admissions. In my first attempt i did not prepare much from any kind of material nor had I taken many tests. I followed Official Guide 12th edition, GMAT PREP by GMAC and few online tests. This time I want to do it the best way with the best material.
With my research I came up with Manhattan GMAT guides and Kaplan premier 2012 but still I think I am lacking in few best preparatory materials. I want to practice as much as full length tests this time. Kindly help me getting through this as i am running out of time. Any kind of help will be hearty appreciated.

Warm regards.

Hi sanuj,

Kaplan GMAT Premier is up to 2013, our most recent edition! The 2013 edition is our most comprehensive edition to date--it contains loads of problems and strategies, as well as extensive online resources. We also have the Kaplan Math Workbook and the Kaplan Verbal Workbook to enhance your studies!

Let me know if you need any more help, and good luck with your prep.

Regards,

Hi Sanuj,

We can all endorse our own materials, but the most important thing is that you work with a set of strategy guides that will enable you to fill in the holes in your performance, and perhaps improve your overall confidence and time management. I would strongly advise against making full tests the focus of your study. You need to make sure that you have a firm grasp of all the basic content, and that you have a useful strategy (or better yet, several useful strategies) for every problem type. You won't get this from simply taking CAT exams or working through the OG. I'd recommend that you spend a few weeks studying and doing practice problems before you attempt any more CATs. Then take them about once a week (or less often, if you decide to retake later than October). Make sure that you don't take a new CAT until you have thoroughly studied the last one. What are you doing well? What isn't working? What are you going to do differently next time?

Specifically, it looks like you need help in verbal. Our Sentence Correction guide is probably the most comprehensive resource available for that topic. Give yourself some time to work through it, but keep your work balanced. You don't want to get one skill far ahead of the others. For instance, if you get really good at SC, the test will give you really hard CR & RC, and that won't go well if you haven't also practiced those topics extensively.

Good luck!

Hello Dmitry,
Thanks for your useful response. I am already following your verbal guides and they are very useful in that course. Thank you once again.
