Just saw your post regarding low GMAT scores. I took and got a 660 with 49 Q and 31 V. While I know it would help to retake the GMAT, I don't have enough time between now and October 1st to re-prepare and send out college applications in time for the First Round. That being said, I wanted to know what kind of schools to consider with my credentials/experience.

GMAT Score - 660 49Q and 31V, awa -5.5 and IR -4
Overal GPA - 3.39 (IU)
Work Experience - KPMG US (1 year in Audit) KPMG Kuwait (almost 3 years in Financial Consulting and 1 promotion) and recently switched to a large telecom company to the marketing division. This was to get some specialization in a sector as well as to understand how to drive revenues up.

Going forward Im looking to get into a role where I can use my feasibility and business plan experience as well as that of marketing together and I'm not sure how to put it across.

Other extra curricular activities - Toastmasters Kuwait - President of the Club for 6 months in 2011 and Currently VP of PR of a club of about 25 members (2 months)
Freelance model in Kuwait and India. Participated in 3 rampshows for charity and two other for cultural events, and have done several other photoshoots(~15)/promos(~4)/tv commercials (~3) etc. for local and international brands. Additionally, I was an RA for two years during my undergrad, and alumni president for a year at my undergrad school.

My main target schools are Duke, Austin, Carnegie, Ross, UNC, USC, UCLA. I wanted to know how to further narrow down and where all I would stand a chance. While I want to get into a great program, I would only want to apply if I know my experience and credentials would atleast be considered.

Thank you very much.

Hi kana162 - looks like you've already got answers to similar questions from others here on GMAT Club and not sure we can offer much more than the advice already given. We just answered a slightly similar query from someone else (see here) - your profile looks more bschool-ready based on your unique international experiences and KPMG is often a feeder to the good schools, but you're still up against a lot of competition based on your candidate pool. We've seen people get into all the schools on your list with a comparable GMAT score but it's certainly not easy - the essays matter A LOT and that's why we can't provide any more definitive advice on it. You have a profile that does look like it could work out but we never know unless we see the actual pitch. You asked whether "my experience and credentials would atleast be considered." and yes, of course, the adcoms always consider everything - they read every single application and they admit people based on what they see. It's a holistic review and there's not one single thing that will determine an outcome.

If you have any applications completed you might consider our Sanity Check pre-submission review, it's a great way to get a good sense of how your application might fare, BEFORE you submit.

And just like others have said, retaking the GMAT can help if you're serious about these schools (the 31V is obviously very low and in fact the IR of 4 also makes us nervous).

Good luck with everything!
