Re: GMAT Test Day- 670 to 590 on real gmat [#permalink]
Studies:
1) How many hours do you typically study each week? During weekdays when office is there- 3 hrs per day for like last 2 mnths n prior to that varied sometimes 2 hrs sometimes 1 or may be even 3 hrs.
During weekends- 4 5 hrs per day. And last week- I took off from Thursday to Tuesday n g
Studied like 6 7 hrs per day.
2) What study materials have you used so far?
I have completed OG 2019 all the 3. And I also took target test prep for Quant( almost fully done and even in hard quizzes got 80- to 90%)and egmat for verbal( egmat cudnt complete whole but like 70% of content and 60% questions done)
3) Are these the only 3 CATs/mocks that you've taken or have there been others? How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
First mock like 4 5 months back economist- Gmat 570
Then I wrote veritas I think 600 and then 2 official mocks 640 n 630 and then before exam manhatan mock.
Before going to exam- one day before I solved 15 each topic ques that you get on MBa.com
Score- 24/30 in Quant
24/30 in SC and CR
11/15 in RC

Goals:
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School? This year itself for next September intake
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
LBS, Oxford, SMU, Cambridge and few top ones in US.
I am already a chartered accountant and working for 3 4 years now.

Hi Kashish21,

Let’s look at the good news - Q47 is a very good quant score, my friend. If you continue to study, and complete the remainder of the TTP course, I bet you can score Q49+ on your next GMAT. In fact I just PM’d you, so that we can discuss a study plan that you can follow prior to your next GMAT.

Regarding verbal, it’s clear that you are lacking the fundamental verbal skills you need for a high score, right? Thus, moving forward, you need to follow a study plan that allows you to individually learn each verbal topic and then practice each topic until you've mastery. Regarding resources, check out some of the success stories of past GMAT students as well as reviews of various GMAT prep courses to see what prep materials have worked for other test-takers.

I’ve got your back my friend.

Hi Kashish21,

In the title of this thread, you imply that you scored 670 at some point - but none of your posts include that information. Did you actually score 670 on a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT or on the Official GMAT? If you did, then when did that occur?

The ESR does not allow you to see how you performed on individual questions, but the data can still be quite useful in defining how you 'responded' to the Exam as a whole - and can define specific 'weak spots' that you would need to improve on to score 700+. Considering the cost of having to retake the GMAT, the cost of the ESR is rather small by comparison. If you don't want to purchase the ESR, then we can still make some deductions based on your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores. In broad terms though, raising a 590 to the point that you can consistently score 700+ will likely require at least another 2 months of consistent, guided study - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.
