Happy because I received an interview invitation yesterday. I live in South America and applied on r3 18 jan.

Any tips for the interview are welcome... past questions of round 1 and round 2....

Thanks for any advice and hope you all run with the same luck!!!!!... At the end is just a game where you "control" some variables...

Congrats!
Nothing special about interview. General questions. Just be prepared and relaxed.

Good luck.

all hi. i got an interview weeks ago. it went.. weird, well, it was really hard to descript..my feelings about the meeting. well, basically, i don't think the adcom showed her interest(great? normal? plain? i don't know) in me.. no request about my personal life, no detailed questions about my work experience or acedemic records.. so i tend to put it as a negative sign... waiting for the DING from goizueta...
well, anyone has any comment? to encourage me up or.. just let me sink down...
thanks anyway!!
btw, good luck to all!!

You should just chill out. You had an interview which means that the Adcom liked you application in the first place. From what I understand the interview is not blind (the interviewer has read your file previously) and hence they may not ask detailed questions on work-ex or academia, unless you have something glaring in your profile that they may want clarify on. Plus a lot depends on the interviewer themselves, so you can't read a lot into that.

The results are 5 days away, I would suggest just stop thinking about it and worry on Friday, not before that as you can't really do anything about it in anycase. Maybe speak to some current students to show your interest in GBS, but other than that just sit tight and keep your fingers crossed.

My OPUS account says I'm waitlisted and then I get an email saying I'm accepted. A quick check with the adcom confirmed that I have indeed been accepted into the 2 year program, with \$\$.

But oh man, I wish I hadn't logged onto OPUS before I saw that acceptance mail . Horrible way to get your first acceptance.
Anyhoo, good luck to all!

I am a bit unsure about what to think of my 660. I know a lot of 700's apply to Emory, so I'd love any input.
- Would you recommend to take it again?
- Is it a futile effort with a 660?
- Would strong essays make up for the fact I dont have a 700?

I'd appreciate any input, as open ended as it could be. Thanks

Let's take these questions in a more natural order:

gcarrion wrote:

Not at all. The most recent intake had an 80% range of 606-740 with an average of 677. About 30-40% of your classmates would have had your score or lower.

gcarrion wrote:

- Would strong essays make up for the fact I dont have a 700?

Possibly. As could the other areas of your app. A below school average GMAT score should be accompanied by as strong as possible transcripts, essays, extras, recommendations and interview.

gcarrion wrote:

If you feel you could do significantly better then certainly. The good news for you is that you have plenty of time to study and retake without sacrificing time on your essays so you're in a good spot here man.

Good luck to you.

Hey guys,

looking for some input on my GMAT score and profile. Emory is my top target.

I just took the GMAT for the first time and got a 660 (Q42, V38). I did not have the best day I could have, but I had a realistic max goal of 670 given my preparation and CATs. Quant was weaker than I know I can get, but not by nuch.

I'd appreciate any input, as open ended as it could be. Thanks

I think GMAT score makes more difference for international applicants. Your score is above average and I believe you do not need to retake the exam. If you have time to practice and motivation for a higher score, then why not. But the application process is tiring especially if you are working and planning to apply several schools. I would suggest that do not delay it if you decide to retake.

Good luck!

Has anyone received an interview invite and it specifically says that "your interview should be conducted in person on campus"? Am an US citizen.
I am overseas at the moment for work and not sure if I can request a video interview instead.

Hi Melodania,

It's usually the AdCom that conducts the interviews.

Melodania,

based on my interview registration process. It seems that you have various options. Certain days will have adcom available to conduct interview while other dates have alumni's conducting the interview. You can see in advance who is the interviewer.

Hope it helps

I also had my interview with an Adcom. The Adcom did connect me with a student after the interview for a chat though. So not an interview, just more relaxed discussion

Can anyone comment on the difference between Emory's 4 rounds? Most schools have 3 rounds, your chances of admission in rounds 1 and 2 are basically the same, whereas your chances in round 3 are significantly lower. Is Emory's round 3 more similar to round 2 at other schools or is it a true round 3? I was initially targeting round 3 but now I'm not so sure.

They seem to have pushed the dates back from last year. Last year, they called the rounds Early Round, R1, R2 and R3. This time, it seems like R1 is actually R1. And R3 is probably R3. Can't say what the AdCom members have in mind. But their usual response to questions about when to apply is "Apply as early as possible to have the best chance". So, you might want to play it safe.
