I would say you have learned some new things while forgetting some others. It is like swimming against a tide, have to paddle a lot faster than I the still water.

Ps. It is pretty common to get a lower score on the retake as well though on average retakers Re able to get 10-20 points higher scores.

Ps. Never heard that stat about the initial assessment.

Thanks for your reply bb.

I guess you're right, I did try to balance things but I guess I just underperformed as I was under a lot of pressure.

Although feeling devastated right now, I guess this ain't the year for me to apply.. Will probably get back on the GMAT hunt in a few months.

Was actually hoping I would get the chance to write a good debrief about my experience and a 700+ score but I guess some things are just not meant to be.

Thank you for creating such a wonderful forum, it really is a shrine for all GMAT takers.

Regards,

Hi bb,

I am in a similar situation. Regarding your point#5 - I am planning for R2 for at least 5 schools. I haven't started with my apps yet, but I will be working on them full time 2 weeks from now. Given the constraint that admission consultants will be busy now, how much time will I need per application? Please advise if it is reasonable to get >=5 schools within 5 weeks with the help of an application consultant. I am planning to use different consultants for different schools so that i have all the threads going simultaneously. Any other tips will be greatly appreciated!

These are statistics that are actually periodically published by GMAT. I believe I read on their website somewhere that the average increase in score, of re-GMAT test takers is 25. I think that article also mentioned the percentage of re-GMAT test takers who actually score lower in their reattempt. I don't remember the exact figure, but I think it was lesser than 30%.

In a similar situation. A quick background about me.

disappointing-gmat-score-need-some-suggestions-164400.html

Prepared for another month and took the GMAT again.
Exactly same score, with exactly the same sectionals in all three parts - 700 (Q49,V35, IR7).

Was shocked. Had attempted all questions in Quant after solving. Was expecting minimum Q50.

Also, was scoring decently well in the practice tests I took this time around.

Veritas Prep 2 - 740 (Q50,V41)
Veritas Prep 3 - 780 (Q51, V46)
Veritas Prep 4 - 740 (Q50, V41)
Veritas Prep 5 - 770 (Q51, V44)
Veritas Prep 6 - 770 (Q51, V45)

Princeton Free Practice Test - 740 (Q51, V42)

GMAT Prep 1 - Retake 2 - 780 (Q51, V48)
GMAT Prep 2 - Retake 2 - 780 (Q50, V47)
(You could discount these score conveniently as these were 2nd retakes)

Not sure what to do? :-)
Feel I could cross the 750 mark and target good bschools with a decent score in hand, but GMAT is proving me wrong over and over again...:-)

Have written them a mail. We keep posted in case they reply.
