Test answer choice C) first as that is the middle choice and happens to be a round number for information we have from the question.

45 bricks at \$1 each = 45*\$1.00 = \$45.
50 bricks at (\$1 - \$0.10) each = 50*\$0.90 = \$45

This gives us C

You can solve by using the following equations:

x/y =45
x/(y-0.10) = 50

you'll find y = 1 --> x = 45
