Can any of the successful candidates tell me what the acceptable topics for the greatest personal accomplishment essayare? Is writing an essay about taking care of a family member during some rough times an acceptable topic? Or would it be considered 'too' personal?

Please advise.

If you can apply SAR (Situation - Action - Result) framework to your story and show how it helped you develop into the person you are now, and how it will enable you to contribute in the b-school and beyond, then you should be fine.

stoic, just keep it professional and not make it into a soap opera, then you'll be ok. Professional = write about the facts, the problems, how you conquered it, and what you learned from it. Don't try to make it into a "sob story" or try to gain sympathy. But otherwise, that sounds like a GREAT personal accomplishment essay.

Mine was mundane, it was about tennis. :P

Stoic,

Greatest personal accomplishment is simply that. The greatest one thing that you have done and value yourself. If, for you, your greatest accomplishment is helping a family member back into health, and there are moments that have shaped your life...then write about it.

I personally believe what is most important about a personal accomplishment is that it has had significant and deep impact on the person you have become and your aspirations.
