I'd try process elimination for this one.

If Gretel is 5 years old and Hansel is 7 years older than Gretel then Hansel is 12 years old. 5 times 12 is equal to 60. Therefore, the answer is A

A. 5
B. 6
C. 7
D. 12
E. 14

\(h = g + 7\)

\(g ( g + 7 ) = 60\)

Or, \(g^2 + 7g - 60 = 0\)

Or, \(g^2 + 12g - 5g - 60 = 0\)

Or, \(g ( g + 12 ) - 5 ( g + 12 ) = 0\)

Or, \(( g - 5 )( g + 12 ) = 0\)

Or, \(g = 5\) & \(g = - 12\)

Thus, Gretel is 5 years old, answer must be (A) 5
