If x is an integer, is |x|> 1?

1. (1-2x)(1+x) < 0
2. (1-x)(1+2x) < 0

Explanation Given:
Statement (1) by itself is insufficient. Consider X=1 (the answer is "no") and x=2 (the answer is "yes").
Statement (2) by itself is insufficient. Consider x= -1 (the answer is "no") and x=2 (the answer is "yes").
Statements (1) and (2) combined are sufficient. x cannot be -1, 0, or 1. Therefore, |x|> 1 .

I am having trouble understanding why x cannot be -1, 0, or 1. When 1 is plugged into the first equation, it makes sense that the end result is -2<0. And when I plug -1 into the second equation, I get -2<0. These inequalities make sense, so why can't x be -1,0 or 1?
