Yes, This is miserable! I checked my horoscope..it actually looks good - it says I will get new job offers today. So for all of you Taurus', keep your head up. Haha... If only I believed in horoscopes....

You inspired me to look at my horoscope and it says nothing about any interview invites. :(
Fingers crossed that horoscopes really are useless...

Dinged.

And feeling quite like an idiot on top. If a 770 GMAT and the best two essays of those I submitted can't get me an interview, or get me waitlisted - then I either made some silly error, or my profile just isn't good enough. Which means that's pretty much the final verdict for my 2013 applications.

Apologies for the rant. Nonetheless, honest congratulations to those who made it!

Don't be discouraged. YOu have to realize there are so many ridiculously accomplished people who apply to Harvard, and even more that self select out of the applicant pool. It's the biggest reason I decided not to apply.

Invited! And constantly re-checking the email and scheduled interview confirmation, just in case I dozed off and daydreamed it...I still can't believe it...

Dinged. Actually this was on expected lines, so no worries. This whole application process has taught me a lot though, so am thankful for the experience. Waiting for the other schools to show some love.

HBS has given me my first ding. Ever! Accepted early undergrad to HYP. Applied and accepted to two HYP for graduate school. Got every job I wanted. Never really been denied anything.... Oh well. Definitely a humbling experience! I'm mostly just bummed that I have to write more essays and ask for more Recs. Still very excited about the prospect of other programs.

On to more schools Round 2, and still holding out minimal hope for Round 1 GSB. Speaking of, does anyone out there know of people denied HBS getting accepted GSB? Or do they typically get both?

The part in bold above happens all the time. You'll find examples on this forum. Also, if this was your first humbling experience, get ready for some more :) although I hope you dont have to. All the best

congrats on a good interview. when you say it was just a formality what do you mean? do u think that connections and calls help that much? how do y'all know when to make calls or risk annoying the adcom?

I had pretty senior people do it, and they told me the interview would be a formality and they would get me in. so lucked out in the process it seems. thanks for support.

 Are you related to someone famous, or have some other connection?

C'mon guys. Bit of scepticism on this one.

I interviewed Friday, Nov 16th. I also did not send a thank you card. Between expressing gratitude in the post-interview reflection and the generic email address, I did not feel the separate thank you was needed (despite the urge to still send something...).

Did anyone else feel their interview was atypical? (mainly RE the types of questions asked).

I also had a very relaxed, conversational interview based completely on my resume and the choices that I have made in my career. I think the process is now truly about selecting a class rather than evaluating people - unless you flubbed the interview really badly as Sandy notes.

the wait is certainly horrible! all I can say is I wasn't terribly thrilled by the prospect of a post-interview reflection before the interview...but was very happy to have the last word after the interview...

lol, I was not thrilled about having the last word. My interview was quite thorough, so I found myself not having a lot more to get off my chest. Plus the internet went down at the place I was staying and I ended up having to rush to three coffee shops that morning before I found one with working internet...yeah, that was fun. Oh well, it's done. Now just need to stay extremely busy for the next 16 days!

Also not a fan of the post-interview reflection. I can see how it could be helpful to some, but when you feel like your life was clearly out on the table, it is hard to know what to say without botching anything up. Add that to the list of things playing in my head for the next 16 days! I'm sure, if admitted, I'll claim that it was a fantastic way to let the adcom get to know me. Certainly do not feel that way now!

For those of you in NYC... my girlfriend (HBS '11) is hosting a young alumni holiday formal tomorrow night. It should be a fun event as well as a good opportunity to network with 200+ recent grads. Tickets can be purchased at: https://hbsholidayparty.eventbrite.com

Good luck!

For US applicants - remember Thanksgiving? Seems pretty recent, right?

The period of time that has elapsed between Thxgiving and today is the same amount of time FROM today when we will find out our fate at HBS.

Yes... I am a huge tool.

Hahaha - this is EXACTLY what I have been doing for the last 2 weeks.. :P gives you some peace...

9 days! Single digits! Really hoping for some good news on the 12th. I am dreading the thought of having to submit for R2 anywhere and start the whole process over again.

Had a dream last night I received a phone call that I was accepted at HBS and then subsequently told it was a mistake and I was actually rejected...

Then I somehow ended up at a Tom Petty concert and there was a talking cat on stage. Dreams are crazy, huh?
