I would like to start an official "Suggestions" and "Improvements" thread - ideas welcome

This site has been built by members like you and many of the features are a direct contribution by many of them. If there is a feature you feel is missing or not fully developed, post it here - we'll be happy to install/develop/research as long as it's feasible.

It's definitely going to make navigation easy and will save time too.

Some other ways to achieve the same thing:
1. How about specifying unique colours to subject title for different sections?

OR

2. Specifying rule for posting questions.

For instance, Sentence Correction questions will carry a subject title like this:
SC - Unique_Word_To_Identify_That_Question

for ex., SC - Acid Rain

But the problem here will be to constantly check for violation.

But moderators will face this problem with any method that they finally chose to apply ( if at all it happens ). It'll more depend on poster's self-discipline. For new joiners, this general rule can be posted on the joining page.

Open Verbal/Maths quiz

Starting an open weekly quiz in Verbal (SC/CR/RC) or Maths (DS/PS) for all GmatClub members.

This is itself a new and uniques step to make such forums more useful for its members. This will give a reason why GC is the best of best.

We can approach this by:
1. Broadcast an intimation mail to all members for registering for the quiz or flashing about this quiz on the top of all web pages of GmatClub.
2. Fix a certain time period during which members can give the quiz, as per their convenience.
3. Don't show the result immediately rather wait till that time period is over. This will add more fun to the quiz. After the time period publish the result. Members can access their performamnce.
4. Don't remove that quiz online. Let other members, who missed the quiz, and new members to take the quiz and check their performance.

Think about this initiative in terms of:
1. New members to GmatClub
2. Traffick generation
3. Competitive advantage
4. Popularity and Uniqueness

My 2 cents, hope this will be very helpful for all.

We need to have buckets in the site. which means that when I am surfing the site and I Like a particular topic I should be able to add it to my bucket (or cart or Favourites).

Since there is so much material out here I tend to get lost, usually I keep picking and posting urls to my email account. But then again, there I need to search them out of several thousand emails.

Whenever I am on the site for more info. I will look for it, find it and if it fits my need and I would want to review it later, it would go into my favs' bucket so that I dont have to search for that thread. I can go there directly in my fav's.

Later we can allow users to create categories for buckets so that they can organize/collect information in the format they would like to keep. This will also solve problem that I have seen people posting like arranging section in order of difficultly or 600-700 range or Verbal or SC, RC, CR categorizations.

GMAT Club can periodically review everyone's bucket or categorization in buckets to automatically organize content as shown on the club from this information.

I would appreciate if initially we can start with buckets/cart/fav's.

By the way thanks for creating a free GMAT retail store for preparation.

To Whom It May Concern:

Received the email saying I haven't logged in for a while. I do plan to continue to use the site, but I have about a year to take the test and will probably not begin studying hard until I return from Afghanistan.

As it pertains to the site and potential improvements, I found it very frustrating when people did not post the OA and OE for questions. I mostly use the site as a question bank and to have people post questions and then say "Discuss first, then OA" is rather off putting. While it's admirable that people want to have a discussion, it is a fact that some people just want to work problems.

Recommendation: a question can't be posted to the site unless it is accompanied by the OA, the OE, and the source (OG, MGMAT, Peterson's, etc.). This allows people to just answer questions and move on or, alternatively, answer questions and then ask for further OEs in other people words. Everybody wins. Additionally, people can see the quality of the questions they will encounter should they elect to purchase additional study resources. As someone that has previously taken the GMAT, I can say that there's a wide variety of study material out there and stuff like Peterson's is in no way representative of what people will actually encounter on the test. By posting the source of the question people know before they buy what kind of questions they will encounter.

I have a suggestion regarding "Calling all fall xxxx AAAAAAAA Applicants" threads

Sometimes I wish to visit the prior years threads to get some specific information and I find that there are like a 100 pages and it's a pain to jump just 5 pages at a time! For example, just now, I wanted to know when the interview calls start rolling for Tuck in the Jan round, but I find that there are 107 pages in the fall 2011 applicants thread and I am having to skim through most pages till I reach the date I am interested in.

I was wondering if we could've either of the following -
The 1st thread be edited such that there would be links to the 1st message about an interview invite, ding, admit, financial aid, admit weekend, etc. (Basically the important milestones in an applicants thread)

Or a way to skip the forum to a particular date I am interested in, like 01/05/2011

Can we change the color of "Admitted from WL" in user profiles/stats in first posts of school threads? Black to me says submitted. I feel like Admit from WL should still be some shade of green

So I noticed the chat activity is quite pedestrian at times and I wonder (and apologize if this has been suggested) if it might benefit from being open on the side of any page? So like the white portion on the right hand side of the screenshot attached as an example but you get the idea of having it open naturally for people on various pages rather than a single dedicated room that takes you away from other content.

My suggestion would be have it naturally logged in to once you log into your forum account otherwise have it automatically generate a "guest##" tag. I think the chat is a brilliant aspect, I think it could benefit from the natural influx of users by adding it to the majority of pages on the side allowing people to pop in and out and already be logged in when they log into forum account (assuming this is feasible but I feel like I've seen it on a few sites).

Thank you for the suggestion. We are working on a new version of the chat that is integrated with the forum and we hope it will be more visible/effective. We have not considered posting it on every page but we have been thinking about showing a list of people currently active in the chat.

I'm new here. So I don't know if I'm missing something but when I go to some forum and I have to practice questions from there, I would want to open a question and then have the 'next' button there to navigate to a new question instead of going to the forum page again and opening a new question in another tab every time. I know a lot of my fellows would prefer selecting specific questions and working on them but I'd like an easy Next button near the timer somewhere to easily move to another question once I'm done.

Well, the cool thing with the tests is you can create quizzes, which you can customize depending on your current ability level like all Sentence correction 500-level questions etc etc. Just go to the quizzes tab and you should be able to customize.

I guess you are in initial stages of your preparation, in that case I would advise you to use quizzes to try some basic level questions. If you want to try the newest questions on the forum anyway, you can use the question directory https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-ps-ques ... 27957.html

You can always try the latest questions from the forum.

Suggestion for a feature: Ability to sort Qs by Last Attempt Date

Ability to sort Qs by last attempt date would be really helpful for those people who want to re-do/review the Qs. For example, if one did all the Qs from the Verbal Review book and wants to attempt those Qs again, then this feature would be pretty handy since one could start doing the questions with the oldest last attempt date. Currently, if one wants to do so, one would need to open Qs one-by-one and then check their attempt date.

I have been using the Decision Tracker page for some weeks and the almost identical colors of some status (e.g., Withdrawn Application x Application Submitted) makes me confused.

Please, is it possible to change some of these colors? Is there any technical issue preventing from doing so?

I am facing a major glitch, I don't know if is just me or my novice approach. But my error log is not immediately updated with the questions. Plus the time zone I am in CST but my practice questions are recorded as per PST which makes me unable to track my daily questions attempted. It would be great if there is something like the number of daily questions attempted in line with the time zone of the member.

Also, I have faced it that the questions are not marked answered for my case (probably because I use gmatclub on the mobile web browser as well as desktop) but this is bothersome. Again, a brief suggestion on the user's weak area would add light to the error log. This comes handy if there is a daily recording of the same..

We have added an indicator to the questions you have attempted in the mobile view. While it is not a filter, it is an indicator. Can you try it and see what you think? Here is an example of how it will look (you will see a GREEN timer if you have already attempted the question and your last answer was correct; you will also see a RED timer if you have attempted the question and your last answer was incorrect. This would allow you to retake the questions that you have taken but gotten incorrect....

Ability to Paste Screenshot

Currently, we don't have the ability to paste a screenshot directly (Ctrl + V). As a workaround, one is required to take a screenshot and then upload it. It would be great if we could directly paste screenshots and photos, a feature similar to the one on GitHub.

Just a couple bugs I’ve noticed roaming around; nothing serious, just minor functionality issues.

Note: I've broken the below URLs on purpose as it doesn't allow me to post URLs, remove the and the space after the domain name to follow the locator.

Here’s the device / browser info in case the below are browser bugs: whatsmybrowser.@ org/b/KNQAJ

• On Tutoring section, on the tiles’ dashboard, the star ratings are not pulling through correctly, e.g. 0 stars are showing as 5 filled in stars, same with 2.5 Page: gmatclub.@ com/tutoring/?fl=menu

• In Forum, on the thread, the particular discussion's search doesn’t work at all, it gives PHP error by the looks of it e.g. gmatclub.@ com/forum/search.php?t=167728; to replicate open a Forum thread and try searching for something using the Thread search (not the main search) at the nav bar

• The scroll of the notification feed that opens when click on the globe at top right is really buggy, it’s struggling scrolling as it tries scrolling the main page too, pretty impossible to scroll through the notifications; if cannot replicate I can send a screencap.

• When creating a new group, the group profile image that is being uploaded does not actually show up on the front-end; it uploads but only upon publishing of the group the image shows up.

• There is a bug within the emoji selector on chat, sometimes when clicked on funnily it opens itself in a new window - have happened ±3 times, but have not identified what exactly triggers it.
