C is the trap answer because it incorrectly modifies "years."

Yes, it should be D.

"where" needs to modify Tahiti...and "having" needs to modify Paul.

Great question!

P.s. a vacation in Tahiti sounds good to me right now!

D it is.

A and C are out in the first look.

B is out because of wrong tense.

E is modiying the meaning. As if he had difficulty returning to Paris because of hectic pace.
