I often come across some SC questions where I do not know the exact meaning of some words (in this case, I knew fatal is bad.. but not enough that it is used for something that causes death) hence I answered A.

Is there any general list of words whose meanings should be known or do I need to spend extra time while solving questions to figure out that GMAT is tricking me with these kinds of words?

I'm sure no such list exists, though. :(

i just learnt something very crucial. that if something is fatal it will definately kill you. therefore someone cannot suffer a fatal attack twice.
