"Status as a 'superpower' does not make a country responsible for policing world affairs. Even a superpower should remain neutral towards world events except in cases of self-defense."

Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the position stated above. Support your viewpoint using reasons and examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.

The issue of Status as a 'superpower is a controversial one. On the one hand superiority demands lot of quality output for all worlds problems and On the other hand it demands to maintain Statusquo as a superpower to influence decisions

Experience tell us that Status as a 'superpower has led to world wars and nuclear attacks such as Hiroshima leave life long memory. for example the recent spy swapping between US and Russia is an example of how both of them do not trust each other but they do not want to spoil their relationship

Admittedly in UN security council Status superpower role is always questioned today by developing countries. For instance the stalling of negotiations on CO2 emission control, shows the clash that world superpower's are facing today. the expanding of G7 to G20 are some examples where superpowers are using their influence. Another case is the nuclear deal signed between india and US to which US got the necessary approval from all agencies which could have been done by india

The third instance is when 'superpower' interest do not match with other countries. One country is ready to impose a sanction on a county for instance in Iran but another county does not want to do it because they are trading partners

One must admit as well that superpower can never be neutral. they have to take positions to get their work done. But it can backfire sometimes. for instance when soviet union tried to occupy afghanistan US supplied drone missiles and other ammunition to afghans defending their homeland. today same missiles have been used against US

Neverthless a superpower support has lead to kosovo liberation, some african goverments becoming democratic rules etc. But critcis will always say it is for their self gain. But what about the people in these countries. they are happy today

On The whole a superpower has to maintain a delicate balance between its supporters and detractors playing the role of big daddy.
