Please reply.. I'm in need of answers that I can't get from any counsellor from India.. I'm in 2nd year. I have 2 more years to go. I need to know what must be done.. I don't want to live with a bunch of regrets later on..
I study in India.
B.E Computer Science and Engineering.
I know the competition is VERY HIGH for IT based candidates and that to Indian. I'm currently in the second year of college. (Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering, Tamil Nadu) My college is not way close to IIT's. It used to be 4 years ago, not ranking as dropped.
Lets assume 3 things for certain:
1. My CGPA will be 7.5/10 (I don't know the USA conversion scale, the evaluation is VERY stringent and DOGMATIC)
2. I haven't taken my GMAT yet, so I'll do whatever it takes in the world to get the GMAT score.
3. Once I finish college, as I come from the brown household (India), my family will NOT allow me to work for more than 3 years. Since I have to get married and show a settled career by the age of 28.
I come from a Computer Science background. So all my internships/jobs that I take part in will be technical. With this being said, how much I achieve this:
"Things that would help/strengthen include recognition and promotion/progression along the way; leadership & management experiences; teamwork experiences; analytical skills; people & project management; communication skills; and as you mentioned, generally making an impact"
1. Can you help innumerate the kinds of extra curricular activities that one can take part in that would make my resume stand a good chance to get into the top 20 B-SCHOOLS abroad? I'm in my 4th semester. There are 4 more to go.
2. What must be my GMAT score?
3. Since I WON'T BE ALLOWED TO WORK FOR MORE THAN THREE YEARS, I can't ascend to the role of Project Manager in an IT sector before 8 years. How else can I bring up my resume that clearly shows that I have leadership, management, project managing experiences?
4. Are internships and programs related to my own field (Computer Science) really help strengthen my cause or should i intern elsewhere?
Thanks in advance!
