A is the correct answer here.

Hippies is plural. So we need "their" => B and E out.
D is awkward as usage of "such" distorts the meaning.
A uses the correct relative clause => which modifies the "peace movements" (noun closest to it).

their is correct and should be there in the correct answer. Leaves us with A and C.
Between A and C => C is too wordy with "that were to include". Hence A is the correct answer!

In answer choice A , isn't it "Which include" rather than "Which included" since peace movements is plural.

40 sec.

IMO A is correct.

Hippies, rebellious youth of the 1960s and 1970s, expressed their desire for pacifism and tolerance through peace movements, which included marches and protests.

(A) their desire for pacifism and tolerance through peace movements, which included

Hippies- Plural, so "THEIR" is required.

(B) its desire for pacifism and tolerance through peace movements, which included -- Hippies + its = wrong
(C) their desire for pacifism and tolerance through peace movements, that were to include -- "which included" is better than " that were to include".
(D) such desire for pacifism and tolerance through peace movements, which included -- Grammatically incorrect.
(E) its desire for pacifism and tolerance through peace movements, including Hippies + its = wrong

Official Explanation:
The two pronouns in the sentence, their and which, have clear antecedents: hippies and movements. The sentence is grammatically correct.
