Homer’s Odyssey is often dramatized as
a series of hairbreadth escapes from
terrible monsters and vengeful gods,
and while those episodes are exciting
and important literary achievements
,
they stand apart from the poem’s
extensive attention to domestic life, to
domestic values, and to a hero whose
most important achievement is the
reestablishment of his home and family.

A. and while those episodes are
exciting and important literary
achievements

B. and although in fact these episodes
are exciting, important
achievements in literature

C. and while an exciting and
important literary achievement

D. and those episodes are exciting and
important literary achievements

E. and with those episodes as exciting
and important literary
achievements

a) while - changes meaning !!
b) although - changes the meaning !!
c) while what ??
d) wrong sentence correction

those episodes are achievements that stand out ...

Hence , i go with E

i think understanding what the sentence means is important here ....u have to consider the meaning of the whole sentence......

btw A n B , i will go for B ,
though wordy but "although" conveys the message clearly that though the deeds are heroic but still the storyline is his domestic life and thus heroic episodes dnt hve much role to play in it.
would like to see OA

A. and while those episodes are
exciting and important literary
achievements

B. and although in fact these episodes
are exciting, important
achievements in literature
- redundant

C. and while an exciting and
important literary achievement
Context is changed.

D. and those episodes are exciting and
important literary achievements
does not show the contrast.

E. and with those episodes as exciting
and important literary
achievements
does not show the contrast

The sentence is trying to present a contrast.
This is how I thought

Eliminate D & E - These options are not presenting the contrast.

Left with A, B & C

B - although in fact - This is redundent construction. - Eliminate

Left with A & C

C - Context is changed. It means that the fights were an achievement.
