Hello everyone, I just took the GMAT prep 1 and I have been trying to understand why my score in the quantitative so low
- Quantitative: 48 / Percentile: 78% - 9 incorrect (only)
- Verbal: 24 / percentile: 34% - 19 incorrect

I know that the first 10 questions are important,
I did as wrong question 2, 9, 12, 15, 17, 26, 30, 35 and 36

They are not all at the beginning and furthermore not consecutive on the test,

I used to practice with Kaplan and score Higher percentile score with more wrong answer sometimes consecutives...

Any idea ? is Kaplan relevant ? Is GMAT prep scoring seems you also really tuff regarding the situation ?

Q48 is actually a pretty good score and the difference between 48-51 on Q is minimal. The likelihood is that the questions you got wrong are the higher difficulty ones that would have pushed your score up.

GMAT Prep is the most accurate in terms of predicting your actual GMAT score.

As a goal I aim at least 70% in quant and the very little differences between 78% and 70% freaking me out... Moreover when I see a low score expected with only few wrong answer :/

Is there a big difference between 70 and 78% ?

Thanks

Unfortunately I cannot allay your fears. The difference between 70%-78% is extremely small. It is really not about the number of wrong answers but the level of the questions you got wrong. If you can consistently answer high level questions correctly, you can maintain a high Q score even with a few wrong answers.

I took Kaplan, Manhattan and official GMAT PREP CATs and from my experience I think the official gmat prep scoring algorithm was the closest to the real thing. Kaplan was the worst. And I founf the Manhattan Prep CATs were the hardest.

The person before me replied 5 days ago. I guess it just popped up in that subforum. I don't really check the dates of posts but perhaps I should now.

GMAT prep is the most accurate in terms of score , next would be manhattan/veritas . I wouldn't recommend other mocks , because of my own personal experience
but it all boils down to the D-day . I have seen people who haven't scored above 690 in gmatprep scoring 730 on the D-day and vice-versa

Focus on learning from your mistakes , instead of worrying about how many questions one must get correct , to score a v35 or q50 etc

i've been at your stage once , and it comes from experience that , knowing such stuff wouldn't help you in your gmat preparation
