How do we know the meaning of such sentences .

no less Vs not less?? which one is better ? how do we solve such SCs

No less an authority than Walter Cronkite has reported that half of all Americans never read a book.
(A) No less an authority than
(B) Nonetheless an authority
(C) Nevertheless authoritarian
(D) Not less an authority than
(E) An authority not less than

A. "no less" is preferred over "not less".

OA is A
so any case no less is preffered.these are typical examples does there exist any known convention to solve these

I chose A too..

B,C --are out nonetheless and Nevertheless doesn't make sense here.

I don't the difference between "no less than" vs "not less than"

But if you look at the answer choices. both D,E have "not less than".. I don't see difference between D and E.. there can't two correct choices.. may Be I am oversmart..

finally went for A..

FYI: "no less....than" is a correct idiom.

(A) is out: awkward
(B) Nonetheless is a conjunction; we don’t need that here
(C) Nonetheless is a conjunction; we don’t need that here
(D) Subject is missing in this choice
(E) is Correct

Its very easy to come down to A and E
Between A and E I have chosen E
E is clearer
What is the OA
