Since in the option D u have told about the correct usage of expect, how to know the correct usage for every word?

I am not able to understand this sentence, please help me.

According to me it should be-

John has more love for money than his wife has.

please please address my query. Thanx a lot

In this sentence, the meaning is clear which intends that, John and his wife both love money but John loves it more.
