Hi,

I have been going thru the profiles of MBA students at darden, UCLA etc. and the common thing i found was GPA 3.6 and above and gr8 undergrad schools.

is it possible that these schools consider a candidate with average acad performance and a not-so-great undergrad school.

How important is the GPA and undergrad school.

Undergrad rep is similar to employer rep in that the big names certainly capture the adcomm's eye initially, but it definitely isn't necessary to have gone to the biggest name school to get in.

Naturally if your academic performance at a so-so school is bad, then you're working from a much larger disadvantage. GPA is much more important than school rep, but can a bad one can be overcome by proving your intellectual horsepower in other ways (ie., GMAT, additional coursework, job role, etc.)

I went to a state school and attended HBS with many others from non-Ivys.
